Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

  • Help: Script: Template line1 Variable Inter not found

I installed alpha version 11 on a new laptop, I restored my program (which is working on my desktop)
When I press the variable button in design mode on a form (my main menu) an Alpha box pops up that say Script:TEMPLATE Line 1, variable "INTER" not found.

I have remove alpha and re installed it.
I have done several backups of the working system to restore on the laptop.

Obviously I must be missing something or I didn't do something correctly.

Does anyone know what causes this issue and please help me resolve it.

    Alpha Helped me .... thanks....

this bug was in the pre-release for a short while, but has since been fixed.

here is how you can fix your 'corrupted' forms/reports

    1. open the form or report in design mode

    2. go to the interactive window.

    3. from the pull down menus, select, Interactive, Set Interactive session...
    4. Select the entry in the list for the current open form.
    5. In the Interactive window, type:

    v = topparent.Variables(); with v ; delete *INTER; end with

    and then press Enter

    now save the form/report

the "INTER" variables will be gone.

I have a situation that seems to have been caused by build 3997, this issue in not in the current release, nor does it seem to be in build 4003 (unless I saved to form in build 3997).

The issue is that when I attempt to open the variable list on some desk top forms I get this message Script: Template line 1 Variable 'INTER' not found. If I happened to have saved the form, I am unable to get rid of this message and I am not able to see my variables.

Because I was not aware of this issue, it seems that I have now corrupted several of my forms that were saved using build 3997. I am now using build 4003, is there anyway I can fix these forms with out having to redo them all.

Re: Help: Script: Template line1 Variable Inter not found

Restore isn't the same as copying the application.

      Suggest you try this;
      Form the Control Panel (CP)
      Select Tool/Zip Database
Zip the database to some form of transferable media - like a pen drive/memstick/CD
On the target machine, create the folder you want and unzip the zipped database there.
Go through the Alpha launch or dblclick the .adb file in the unzipped folder.
      Try again.
