Active Link converting to native table

I'm after a few ideas really as the process I have in place works well but I could do with speeding up the process.

Situation.

Oracle SQL database, table one has 177,000 records - Key = ID
Oracle SQL database, table two has 1,100,345 records - Key = ID
For each record in Table one, there are 1 to 25 corresponding records on table two

So in a Set, keyed on the ID I can get the records which I want, however I am doing this over a WAN and boy, is it slow.

So, the idea was to download the data by using the Convert to Native DBF. The connection times out and it would take 11 hours to get the data off the server.

The PC I have to use is connected to the server via VPN using the Cisco VPN Client.

Is there a quicker way of getting the data into a DBF than converting?

Not sure but have you tried getting a result set and using:

rs.ToDBF() ?

Is there an export available on the server that can make csv or dbf files?

Then all you have to do is transfer them.

Yes Al, I can create CSV's but that doesn't solve my immediate problem. It's a locked down app and server. I'll pm you and Peter to explain.

another programmer and I worked on that issue once - we found that if you make the active link read only, it was as fast as expected, otherwise walking in mud.
