Greetings,
This is my first post to the Alpha forum after taking advantage for a couple of years of the wealth of wisdom so generously provided here. So thanks to all who contribute. This is the first time I haven't been able to find a solution to a difficulty - and it is occurring re version 11 but didn't happen in version 10 / 10.5!
I have developed an application in version 10 and recently updated to version 11 in conjunction with buying a new Windows 8 laptop. With version 11 I have encountered a problem re printing. This is occurring on XP computers, my new Windows 8 laptop, and on Vista and Windows 7 computers. Once a PDF has been saved or emailed (both of which use the PDF printing process) the next attempt to print a standard report to a 'real' printer does not bring up the Print screen and acts as if it is just auto-printing but nothing goes to the printer. Restarting Alpha then allows normal printing to go on without a problem, bringing up the print screen for selection, but once a PDF has been saved or emailed normal printing cannot be done and the only solution at the moment seems to be to close and restart Alpha.
The PDF printer is definitely installed properly, so it is not that problem which I have seen addressed a few times on the forum. As I said this is also happening on the new Windows 8 machine which is a completely fresh installation of the Alpha 11 program and not an update in any way on that computer. Essentially I need to ensure the Print Selection screen comes up everytime when printing from reports as the printer to be selected varies across the client's network. But once the PDF printing occurs (which in my application is an auto-operating feature re sending an email or in some cases just saving a PDF copy of an invoice) it seems to short-circuit that process. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Kent.
