Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    How to display an imagereference field full screen

    Is it possible in the desktop arena to hoover or click an image in the imagereference field and make it fill the entire screen, not just the size of the field frame?
    Can it be done by a command in a button?

    One way would be to create a hotspot on the smaller image and use the "on flyover" and "flyover leave" events to display another form with the larger version of the image on it.

      Thanks for the reply Bob. At first that is what I have done, but I still have the frame of the form.
      If there is no hidden or secret command in the handy Alpha vault, Them there is the next choice to call an outside utility/program to do it.
      I have search and found none that will work with command line.
      I have used Faststone, a great free utility to display images, it even works with second monitors. It does not have a command line, That I can see.
      I wonder if any one has come up with such utility/program?

        What command are you using to open the file? sys_open()?

        IrfanView has command line support.
        There can be only one.

          Thanks for taking the time Stan.
          This What I use to open the program:

          HTML Code:
          if file.exists("C:\Program Files (x86)\FastStone Image Viewer\FSViewer.exe") then
          	sys_shell_wait("C:\Program Files (x86)\FastStone Image Viewer\FSViewer.exe ",.T.)
          else
          	ui_msg_box("Error Opening Program","File 'C:\Program Files (x86)\FastStone Image Viewer\FSViewer.exe' does not exist.",ui_stop_symbol)
          end if
          I have no way to specify the exact image to open.

            Try it as

            sys_shell_wait("C:\Program Files (x86)\FastStone Image Viewer\FSViewer.exe C:\windows\Coffee Bean.bmp",.T.)
            There can be only one.

              Re: How to display an imagereference field full screen

              Totally ignores the location. The program opens and it goes to the last open folder.
              The above program load fairly fast, but it takes time.
              Two things are required for an external program:
              a) A utility/program very small so it will load and display quickly
              b) One that will accept command line.

                Not for me with irfanview.

                  Re: How to display an imagereference field full screen

                  This works for me in A5v8. Since *.JPG defaults to opening with Irfanview, I really just need to run apppath\Photos\filename.jpg where the IRF value is in the Scan field.

                  tbl = table.current()
                  fld = tbl.field_get("Scan")
                  target = fld.value_get()
                  dim photodir as C = a5.get_path() + chr(92) + "Photos" + chr(92)
                  sys_open(photodir + strtran(file.filename_parse(target,"NE"),chr(34)+")"))
                  Irfanview's Display options, Windows mode setting determines the dimensions of Irfanview on opening.

                    Funny that you guys pick Irfanview. I had discoverd it last night. I did not have time to tested it.
                    Today I did have to spend the day in NYC. I just got back.
                    This utility has a nice set of options in the command line. Did you see their help.
                    It also fast in loading.

                      I cannot say enough good things about Irfanview. It's one of three "free" programs I pay for. So far I've run into one bug, and the author had it fixed the day after I told him about it.

                        You could load it in an xdlg that has no caption/border..with a button to close the dialg (i.e the image) and return back to the form.
                        You could also load it in a form and open it as a dialog.
                        Or you could load it in a form that has dimensions bigger than the screen so as not to show its borders.

                          That is a very intersting idea to test.
