Setting Email settings w/xbasic

Could anyone please tell me how to set email settings with xbasic? I am nervous about allowing the user access to everything in view.settings. Perhaps a way just to present view.settings.email?

If you're deploying this as a web app, the user won't even have Alpha Five on their computer to make those changes. There is a lot about email in the documentation and on this forum if you look for it.

This is a desktop app. It seems to me that the latest mood-of-the-day is all about web app's. Is the desktop going away or just being ignored these days?

You had posted your question on the web forum, so I assumed you were asking about web apps.

I know you're newer and not trolling for a passionate response, but there's plenty of vitriolic posts arguing both sides on the forum so I'm not going to add my opinion. Suffice it to say, the key points I think most would agree on are:
1) there is still a place for desktop apps in some scenarios;
2) Alpha Five's development software is so enmeshed with desktop application implementation I don't imagine they'll cut out support for it anytime soon;
3) Alpha Five talks big about still supporting the desktop developer but has by far prioritized recent improvements and feature development on the web and mobile side.
