Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Windows 8.1 and Alpha

I just installed alpha v11 full version on a Windows 8.1 pro pc. My mouse and keyboard seem to work on and off or on a delay reaction. I would click on something and nothing would happen then I wait a few seconds then it would appear. typing in a record takes about 10 seconds for the info to show. I'm not having any problem with any of my other programs with my mouse or keyboard only in alpha. Is there a fix or do I have a setting wrong.
    Thanks
    Willie

    Re: Windows 8.1 and Alpha

I have been running win8 and 8.1 for well over a year with alpha v11 and no issues. I did not have any of the issues you describe. I do run as administrator in all cases.

Must be a setting somewhere or a setup issue.

I would be interested if there are more with the same issues you have.

As I try to figure what is going on. This is what I do know
When I try to select a object from one of the tool bars at the top of alpha except for the very top tool bar that one works fine. The object does not gain focus until I move my mouse off the object after clicking on it and then it will launch. right click works fine.
When I'm viewing a table I want to goto the last record I press the last record object and until I move the mouse off the last record object does it fetch the last record. May I'm lost.

        Re: Windows 8.1 and Alpha

does the same problems occur in alphasports?

That will be the key of whether it is an alpha install problem or a problem in the app you are using.
assuming alphasports has the same problems, I would uninstall alpha, clean the registry and reinstall.
assuming alphasports has no problems, I would start looking at my application and see why it has a problem.

My applications work fine. It is alpha itself when creating applications. is there a easy way to flush all alpha registry entries. Cause I did uninstall alpha but I see that it kept all my settings.

Old problem. Where have you installed Alpha?
Don't out it in Program Files.

              it is located in
              C:\Program Files (x86)\a5V11
I had no problem with it on my Windows 7 computer installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\a5V11

Try moving it to the root, check using compatabilty, and run as Admin.

                  Re: Windows 8.1 and Alpha

My dev is where yours is and should not be a problem in win8 or 8.1, but run in compatibility and run admin as Ted said. I always install runtime in the root of c: or as needed. Actually in c:\alda

You did not specify if you are doing this with dev or rt?

I'm doing it with Dev. and I do run alpha with administrator rights.
i'm going to remove alpha completely and see what happens

This sounds like there may be one or more programs screening Alpha
