Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Report Based on Set Problem

    Hello all!

    I have what I thought was a simple problem, but for some reason the answer is eluding me.

    I've created a set (one-to-many) called "ConsContracts" with two dbf's i.e. Consumers and Contracts. I then created a form with a report that is run from that form.

    Now I need to run all those individual reports. I can run them fine one at a time from the button on the form, but I'm having a problem putting together the code to run them all together.

    Here is the code I put together:

    Code:
    dim sab as l
    dim gab as c=""
    dim rab as c=""
    dim yab as n=1

    t=set.open_session("conscontracts")
    r=t.consumers
    s=t.contracts

    t.fetch_first()
    sab=r.isactive
    gab=r.updateflag
    rab=r.conid

    while yab<5
    	if r.conid="C0111".or..not.r.isactive.or.r.updateflag="NO"
    		goto NEXTT
    	end if

    filter = "conid = var->rab"

    query.filter = "conid = var->rab"
    query.order = ""

    :Report.Preview("Contract_Report1a",query.filter,query.order)

    NEXTT:
    t.fetch_next()
    yab=yab+1
    end while
    The while loop right now I set to look at just 5 records, just to see if it was working (which it's not). I've even tried this in Interactive mode, but again, I can't seem to get things to work. Specifically (in Interactive), the t.fetch_next() does not seem to be moving from record to record, so I'm stumped.

    Thanks for any ideas. BTW, I looked in the WIKI for an example, but didn't seem to find one. Not sure why?

    Re: Report Based on Set Problem

    For one thing, you're not resetting var-> rab when you fetch a new record, only establishing it once outside the while loop.

    Aditionally you have

    query.filter = "conid = var->rab"

    should be

    query.filter = "conid = "+quote(var->rab)

    Code:
    dim sab as l
    dim gab as c=""
    dim rab as c=""
    dim yab as n=1

    t=set.open_session("conscontracts")
    r=t.consumers
    s=t.contracts

    t.fetch_first()
    sab=r.isactive
    gab=r.updateflag
    rab=r.conid

    while yab<5
    	if r.conid="C0111" .or. (.not. r.isactive) .or. r.updateflag="NO"
    		goto NEXTT
    	end if

    	filter = "conid = var->rab"
    	query.filter = "conid = "+quote(var->rab)
    	query.order = ""

    	:Report.Preview("Contract_Report1a",query.filter,query.order)

    	NEXTT:
    	t.fetch_next()
    	rab = r.conid
    	yab=yab+1
    end while

    There can be only one.

      Re: Report Based on Set Problem

      Hi, Charles,

      At first glance I'd say

      a) the loop structure looks ok, but instead of looping through the set I'd open an instance of the primary table only and loop through it.

      b) the filter looks wrong for character data. Should probably be: "conid = " + quote(var->rab)

        Many thanks Stan and Tom. I'll go at it again! Some stupid errors on my part, so let me see what happens next.

        Thanks again!

        Charlie
