(They are skipping version 9.)
Some exciting news for desktop developers.
1) Beside the fact that Windows desktop and tablets run Alpha Five, most of you probably know that Windows phones will also have the same operating system... X-Box will run Win 10 also, in the near future, but of little value to us.
2) Microsoft has and is building the interface to handle different reolutions and screen sizes on it's own.
If # 2 is true, and it works with Alpha, this is a HUGE triumph for us.
The phone, by the way, will eventually utilize existing so-equiped monitors, and will resize screens so your phone can be used as a computer. I understand it is tested up to a 40" monitor.
I am building a large scale commercial app with a great deal of graphics, I suspect there are issue with Alpha that may be a continuing problem. (a 72 pixel by 72 pixel icon on a button of the same size on a from changes resolution, with the graphic taking up less and less of the real eatate of the button as the resolution increases. Best fit helps, but the crispness of the graphic deteriorates.)
At any rate, very exciting, at least for me, as the web based app capabilities are too limited for my purposes on most of what I design. Yes, it a great add-on, more a hybrid solution IMHO.
They are presenting a preview tomorrow, I hear. I am interested to hear comments, as this information develops, since I know you folks are seasoned on the screen size and resolution issues...
