Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Error message "There are no pages in the Layout"

    I have Ver 12
    I have a set 1-M called labels-salesorders.set
I have a Form created using this set that has a Preview a Layout button
I use this several times a day to print this layout.
All of the sudden it has stopped working.
When I click on the button and it goes to Preview a Layout, I get an error message that says "There are no pages in the Layout"
On this same form I have another button that prints labels and it works fine.
In the Trace Window error tab it says:
    "Add subform link add Labels_SalesOrders"

I really don't know where to look. I have tried some things like, restart A5, tried on a different computer, rebuild indexs, compact, pack set.
    I have run this before
    "a5_forseclosetables()"
and this has cured the problem but not anymore.

I can upload a sample db but will need to remove some records first, but was wondering if someone had an idea where to start.
All this form is for is to print a work order and print labels. the labels work, but printing the work order does not.
    Thanks,l

Compare the code/actions for the print layout button to th print labels button for differences. Printng a layout is not recpmmended. Better to import the layout to a report and print the report.

If I understand you correctly, I am printing a report like the print labels button. I also have a 3rd button that prints a report and it works fine.
It seems like the report has disappeared, maybe because I may have had 2 reports with the same name, I can't find any duplicate reports on the backups that work.
I have copied the correct report to this table and now it works except I am getting multiple pages because of 1-M child records and can't find how to stop that.
I have looked at my backup that works and cannot find any difference.

        Please elaborate on ...

... except I am getting multiple pages because of 1-M child records
Are you seeing multiple repetitions of field values from your parent table?

If so you may need to insert a group break, and move parent table fields into the group header to get them out of the details band.

By the way, you can't have two reports with the same name unless they're built on different sets/tables.

At which point you need to specify the correct report like

          report.preview("reportname@p:\executive\hdb\tablename.dbf")
          or
          report.preview("reportname@p:\executive\hdb\setname.set")

          Note: report.preview("reportname@p:\executive\hdb\tablename.ddd") is also correct.

Re: Error message "There are no pages in the Layout"

Yes Tom, that is correct. Maybe I'm beating a dead horse but here is 2 zip files, the db that works is "QBKS_works.zip", click on the button in red "Labels" it is a backup from Feb 3rd and the other db "QBKS_duplicates.zip" is the one that quit. I have got it to work, I copied the correct report to the set the "Label" form is based on, this is the one I am getting duplicate pages on the report. I know I could create a group to correct this, but in the one that works, in Design form, I go to the button "Print Work Order" and right click and select "On Push" the report showed there is "WorkOrders" and in the report list, that is the wrong Report. The correct report is "WorkOrdersSet" and yes I could have made 2 reports with the same name by mistake, but the report that works is gone, can't edit it but can still print the report. I guess the best thing to do is create the group and move on.

I may have some time to look at this over the weekend, but not now.

ok thanks, I created the group in my report and it works fine now.
I guess the problem was, I made 2 reports with the same name and the one I was using disappeared. the problem just showed up all at once, not after modifying the form or creating new reports. But theoretically it should have printed multiple pages when I changed the table to a set. I copied the form to the set and the report to the set and it worked fine and I know I done that months. I use this form several times a day every day. But all is good now. Thanks!
