Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Web Browser Xdialog

I am trying to use Web Browser embedded in a XDialog and am hitting a problem with the browser version. I am running in Win7 with Internet Explorer 11 installed but my Web application seems to be opening in IE version 7. I say seemingly because I have no way of checking this, the only evidence I have of this is an error message returned from the web site I am opening saying that the web page does not support IE7.
Is IE7 installed as part of Alpha v11? Does anyone know of a way of determining the browser to be used with Web Browser?
I have tried setting the ole object to InternetExplorer.Application but this has no effect nor does changing the class to shell.explorer.2.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Just created one here ok on win7pro, ie11, no problems.

Did you try some vanilla url like www.google.com to see how it works there?
    There can be only one.

Yes I tried google but of course I cannot establish which version of IE is being used. Try https://ourvis.openapply.com/

That shows me that the website thinks I'm connecting with ie7. This machine has never had anything installed except ie11.

No way to tell. Either the website is misinterpreting the browser being used or some coding of the supercontrol is causing the website to think the browser is ie7.

Since V11 isn't being patched any longer the point is really moot.

            Note: Just checked

            sys_open("https://ourvis.openapply.com/")

Opens the website without issue so the problem is likely in the supercontrol.

Alpha 5 Version 11 is not compatible with IE 11 you have to use IE 10. If IE 11 is installed web on the desk top will not work.

Is it possible to imbed Firefox into a Xdialog? If so what would the Web Class be?

                    Re: Web Browser Xdialog

usually it is the other way around, the websites are not compatible with newer version of IE and want you login with older version. in any event your IE is probably set to emulate version 7 for some reason so it is doing that and the other site is refusing to support that version.
you can check your emulation via developer tools (F12) and correct it.
or take a look at this link
                    http://blog.microcentertech.com/2013...different.html

hope this helps you out, incidentally I am using version 11 IE and not able to open that site either. my version is emulation version 9.

                      Hi Gandhi:

I never knew about that setting. Do you know if setting the compatibility to V10 (or earlier) will sidestep the A5V11/IE 11 compatibility issue?

it doesn't so far, whenever I tried it failed. I did not investigate further. ( simply because it is just emulating not functioning, I think)

If you have another browser like Firefox set as the default, wouldn't Alpha use that?
