Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

How to Restore Alpha To Default Layout

I have lost one of the A5 Toolbar, the one that allows me to toggle on/off the panels on the right. Eg. In Form Design view, Im no longer able to open the Objects panels to select form objects from, nor can i open the panel to select table fields from. How can i restore this toolbar?

I've searched through all menu options. I even uninstalled the software, deleted all registry entries, and re installed it, that didn't help.

    while in for editing:
    tasklist
    Tool Box
    Drag & Drop checked

These are doc panels or they can float- there is a small arrow in the upper right for you to choose to dock where.

Thanks for the response Dave, But the Tasklist isn't visible in Form Design mode, I found it somewhere after clicking through many menus, but "Tool Box" nor "Drag & Drop" was in that list of options.

I've attached a screen shot of a form in design mode. You'll see that an entire toolbar is missing, I think I could call it the main toolbar when in form design.

        Nigel,

Did you customize the "system" toolbars in your database?

Do you see the same behavior using AlphaSports sample database?

Your screenshot didn't make it properly. Here's what you should see with a form open in design mode. There should be a Task List menu choice above the form design toolbar.

No Tom, I don't recall customizing the "system toolbars", If I did, it was totally unintentional.

Stan, Im not seeing neither the menu bar nor the toolbar that is shown in your image. Here's what I get even with an Alpha Sports form in edit mode.

              Definitely something amiss.

I'd suggest you uninstall Alpha, completely remove any Alpha related entries in the system registry, and reinstall.

Under c:\users, there is a lot of alpha stuff as well. Did you go there. I am not sure if it would matter.

In the code tab, right click, customize system menus/sys..., then customize system menu and a box will pop up. On the lower left, there is a button to restore system menus.
                  Might give that a try.

Thanks for all the attempts guys, unfortunately nothing was working.

                    My Extreme Solution
I reformatted my drive C, then reinstalled windows. Its working again.
It was the "Form Editor" toolbar that was missing.
