Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Something came up from the Cpanel forum. It was said that V90, did not change any features to the FTPs functionality.
Yet as I have mentioned before, it feels like they did.
They noticed the .t. .f. switch. and suggest to use the.f..
I knew that .f. brigs a full details of the file. and .t. only file name.
    See an example:
    pick1 = ftp_get_list(ww, usr, pw,ad+ "/*.csv", .T.)
    ?pick1
    = ""

    pick1 = ftp_get_list(ww, usr, pw,ad+ "/*.csv", .F.)
    ?pick1
    = -rw-r--r-- 1 userid userid 5640 Aug 24 16:36 pictures.csv

So FTP_getlist works. just the switch as .T. do not

As I was getting no errors I did not know what was happening.
Now I see using .t. return nothing.
The question is why using .T. returns nothing?
Does any one has any suggestions?

I guess a work around is to collect from the list the last word, rather than the name given.

    That is horrible.
I have and supply hosting with cpanel. I know cpanel went way up in price after it got bought. I like cpanel, but may have to do something different in the future. Did you setup ftp in your cpanel or just use the default one?

One final note: I was told that ftp_get and ftp_list will no longer work on websites using cpanel. version 90+ Ver 86 was the last one capable of handling ftp_get and list.
Imaging, most websites use cpanel for basic software.

I would contact Lenny F at Alpha, or Selwyn as this may be a show stopper.
I will ask my hosting company if they have come across the issue

The cpanel people/hosting company is asking how is Alpha executing those commands.
Are there any settings in Alpha that controls how the FTP is used?
I need help as if I can not solve this issue,
    the application is ruined,
It will have no value at all.

SiteoCity. https://www.siteocity.com/ This hosting company is what I have used for more than 10 years. Great support,(no phone support), but very good pricing, very good pricing!
This company was purchased by Cpanel (cPanel is a web hosting control panel developed by cPanel, L.L.C., an American corporation.)
I was asked how the program(My app -Alpha) is connecting: to FTP and what is uses for the connection settings such as port, if it uses plain ftp or something else like SFTP or FTP SSL/TLS.
Is there a way to find this out?
Is the settings in the Alpha Email setting setup, has something to do with normal FTP_get, list command used within the alpha program?
As I see it, many websites will be affected.
They are saying that they do not see errors.
It is true. When I run the codes, I get no errors. Just nothing.
So very soon all Alpha users using those commands, will stop working as they deploy the new version of cpanel.

    Here is the latest scoop...
It happens that Cpanel the software used in the hosting companies is upgrading.
The latest version does not allow for FTP_get and FTP_list.
    It does allow for FTP_put.
I would like to be able to know how the FTP_get and list communicate with the hosting companies.
I think it may have something to do with the communication ports.
Is any one possibly susceptible to this issue?

Thanks for the response, I did manage to get to work. It took a few tries of the hosting site moving the storage. They did not were able to explain, but did see the situation/error.
    It is ok now.

The code is derived from a desktop application: So I though that this was the right place.
It seems that nobody is having this issue.
Perhaps someone can help me tracing what goes wrong.
this line in the interactive window: with 3 files in the folder mentioned
    vGet = ftp_get_list("http://www.xxxxxx.com", "userid", "55555ddg44" , "/public_html/test" + chr(47)+"*.*" , .T.)
    ?vget returns ""
How can I trace what happens? no errors, nothing
