Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

What version do you have? the developer version of A5v11 is good for two seats. If both your seats are in the same workgroup, just open the same ADB from both seats.

OOps, should you be posting in the V12 section instead?

      David,

More details please. Two users sharing the same database? Two users running separate copies of the same database? Very different. Can't tell from your post which you may have in mind.

I have developer Ver 12.3 when I try to open on the 2nd computer (I guess I should have read the error message) it says to call A5 for additional license.

        where is V12 Section?

The Developer only comes with one seat under the normal subscription. However you should have gotten the runtime as well which is unlimited so unless you want to develop the same workspace on two different computers at the same time then just use the runtime to access the workspace on the second computer.

two users sharing the same database.

I guess I answered my question by reading the error message I get when I try to open the same db on 2 different computers at the same time.

I think I will check into the 2nd license.
            thanks.

Do you have a runtime license for the users?

Dave, are you using V12 under the subscription plan? If so and unless you specifically requested you only wanted the developer then your subscription should include the unlimited runtime.

interesting. Yes I have V12 under the subscription plan. I don't know how to tell if I have runtime. I don't know what I requested. How do I tell if I have the runtime?

When you started your subscription you should have gotten an email with the download links and your license numbers for the developer, runtime and WAS.

The file should be something like a5v12_RuntimeSetup.exe

I checked, only developer license is shown. Alpha Anywhere Developer 1 Year, no other license shown. there is a download link for Alpha Anyhwere Web and Mobile Made Easy
I went to the Program files (X86) folder for A5V12 and there is no runtime exe there. Not in Program Files either.

If they asked at the time if I wanted runtime I probably said no, I just don't remember if it was a choice or not. My subscription is not up yet.
I left a message with A5 Sales after repeated calls and no answer.

                            David,

Your original email from alpha with your new sub, back when you got it, would have everything you got in it along with developer, runtime, etc and also serial numbers for each.
                            Hopefully, you still have that.
