Button hot key not

Text like this on a button:

Save & Close

But that looks like this:

Save _Close

Weird because it's trying to make the & a hotkey. I know the common workaround is to use &&. But that is weird too since the & becomes the hotkey.

Is there a way to kill the underline while using an &?

That just moves the hot key underbar to the "S", not really what I want.

I know of no way to kill it. One way that is not all that quick and easy would be create a bitmap with just the text, save it, and then use Bitmap Only for the label. Not the easy thing we would all want, and the look might not be 100% right depending on button properties, but it does work. Another thing you might try, though I doubt it would work, would be to set the button text via xbasic on form activate.

That's what it does. The S will be underscored because the S is the hot key, as in:

Just tested the bitmap thing - a bit tricky, but it works

Uh, that's what I already said in #5: "... but it does work" (if it didn't work I wouldn't have written what I wrote). Also if you use screen capture to create your bitmap from something on your form (presuming we are talking about buttons on a form here), the background of the text letters can fairly well match what you may want on your button. Maybe not perfect but close.

I used to use the bmp trick in v10 on grids where they didn't used to give you buttons.

Ray, I can match the colors perfect, but that one was a quickie and I did not wish to spend an hour or more doing the color with the modified buttons I have.

You might try a hotspot over your 'button' : create a text box formatted to look like your other buttons and put the hotspot on top to do the push(). You may not have a flyover effect like the others but what the hey...

Yes, the hotspot with a text box works just about as well as using a bitmap, and arguably it is a bit easier to make. And yes, I have actually done it both ways. I really don't have a preference, except to say like Peter I wish there was way to kill the underscore on a form button.

The underscore is a standard. It tells the user which key is the hot key. I thought that was your question having to do with "Hot Key".
What am I missing?
