Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Runtime error active controls used by ALpha is no longer properly registerd

I am getting this error upon starting a program installed by Runtime V11 in Windows 10 PC.
I tried to run the RegisterFilesVistawin7.bat and I did re-install it.
I have re-created 3 times and I still get the same error.
I tried to seach for such problem, but the threads founded are very old and no specific.
Is there a way to find out which active controls are called for?
Has any one solved this problem?

Are you using an installer to install the app and runtime?
If so you can have it register the needed files when it installs the app and runtime.

You did not say how you are starting the app. With a desktop icon that starts the runtime and loads the adb?

You also did not say where you are installing the runtime. If it is in the Program Files(x86) then that may be part of your problem.

Try right clicking on whatever you are using to start the app and then select "Run as Administrator". See if you still get the errors. If not, exit the app and runtime and then start it normally and see if the errors are still showing up.

      Mike,
I have not had the problem
I install rt to a folder off C:
Make sure you are in administrator mode
I usually run the batch file with my installer and make sure v11 is running win7 compatibility - My installer can register each file required without the batch file present.

I have not had to set v11 to run in win7 mode and I have a lot of people with win10 using it. Why are you having to set it for win7 comparability Dave? 10.5 yes but so far 11 no as it runs fine on Win10.

When win8 first came out there were a few issues. Now, it has probably changed, however, I am not going to completely rebuild my installs for that. It works like I do it, so leave it alone.

Ok, just wondering. I never had any problems with V11 on win8 either but it was a screwy version of Windows.

Thanks for the responses, I installd the application using Alpha Install utilities.
I did istall as an administrator.
Normally it will create an Icon on the desktop so it will laucn the application.
The isntall was told to put the runtime and the app in the same directory.
The error, does not tell me the active controls not registered.
As suggested If I start the icon as an administrator, now no more of those errors.

                Mike,
I have put the app in the runtime folder before, but found it wiser to place the app in a subfolder of the runtime.

It seems that after a few installations, some how the error Runtime error active controls used by ALpha is no longer properly registerd
was no longer received, I was using pc with w10.
I install the app in w8 and the problems did return, even after a few installs.
Running the RegisterFilesVistaWin7.bat , did not do anything.
Actually I was executing the bat files just by calling the bat file, it did show the commands, but nothing did happens.
I did execute the program as an administrator and it did the registrations. as it was registering them, it was declaring the registration.
The problem has been resolved as of now.
