Get the field value in an XML Browse into a variable?

To me that means that if I can set a var in the OnFetch event of a stand alone browse - or OnRowChange or OnRowDblClick to:

myvar = browse1:field.value

then it ought to work the same even though my pointer is named different - so

vYarnid = XdBrwYarn:yarn_id.value should work.

The problem I have is getting the variable vYarnid to update when the browse event is triggered. I did get a message box to display the variable but I want a variable in an edit control on the xd to show the value.

Do I need to set a {watch= ptr.browse_event!event_name} statement? (what syntax to use for a browse event?)

The xml shows the events and code but my shared variable is getting ignored.

I use the xdialog timer to set the the value of the variable to the value of a field in the current row.

Make the variable global and add a watch for it.

Well it only took me two days... these are the things I added to make this work:

	vYarnid = XdBrwYarn:Yarn_id.value

	ui_dlg_refresh_targeted(dlg_title,vlst)
	END WITH

@Al - I did try changing the scope of the variable but since I also added it to the OnFetch event for the browse, shared seemed to be what worked best. Making the variable global threw an error.
The OnFetch event did set the variable but the watch event for when the current record changed was the final key that worked to make it update the variable in the xdialog.

Adding the event to the browse card itself does nothing.
