Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Re: Is askC suppoed to work inside a script?

    Hi, yes I changed it to;
    if rslt = 1 'email_send() result for good send is 1
    tbl.change_begin()
    tbl.sent = .t.
    tbl.change_end(.T.)
    end if

    What I did was to start the script and turned the wifi off after say 15 to 20 seconds. Then I looked in the 'Accounts June' folder that had been created and saw that 6 pdfs had ben made, I then looked in the account table and saw that four Ts had been marked as Fs. Presumably the email sending wasn't catching up with hte file creation, no problem. But wWhen I ran the script again, I was hoping the 'send' would start again with the fifth record, i.e. the first one not be marked T.

      Here is the whole thing as it is now.

      end if 'end of section to create and send email if address found

      tbl.fetch_next()
      end while
      fil.flush()
      fil.close()

      I've tried it without query.filter = "cuscode = "+quote(alltrim(tbl.cuscode))' .and. (.not. sent) and without my line.
      Regards.

        That's backwards. You should update the sent field before starting and set all records to .F..
        The script should set the sent field to .T. each time it sends and email.
        There can be only one.

          I think the expression should be
          Code:
          query.filter = "cuscode = "+quote(alltrim(tbl.cuscode)) + " .and. (.not. sent)"

            Thanks Tim, I'll look at that. Seems to be what your post script refers to !

                Re: Is askC suppoed to work inside a script?

                Trevor,
                ITs good you got past the issue of restarting, however you still haven't resolved the issue of your network carrier dropping you out after a number of e-mails.

                Most ISP's look at numerous e-mails being blasted out as spam and will cut you off, which is what I think you are probably experiencing.

                We had a similar situation, and there are a couple of ways around it without getting knocked out by your ISP.

                First, you could contact them and explain the situation, and they may open up the threshold so you can get your e-mails out, or,

                put some strategic timing into your routine so that it doesn't appear to them that your are pushing out a whole bunch of e-mails that appear to be SPAM.

                We chose the latter. Between each e-mail_send, we put a "sleep" command for a couple of seconds, then we also put a 2 minute "sleep" command after 20 or 30 emails so that it didn't appear to the ISP that we were "blasting" out 150 e-mails every 6 hours.

                Tom
                What your threshold is needs to be experimented with.
