Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Runtime V9 License at Site?

I created the full install package this morning and installed it on a computer at a different location. After opening the Runtime V9 it asked for the license number. Do I enter the license number I was issued with the CD for my Runtime copy?

I wasn't able to try that if it was the case cause I didn't have the license number handy. If it is not then I need to know what to do.

    Thanks

If this is where the per seat RT Engine is supposed to be installed, then yes I believe so.

So the site needs to have the same license that I used for my RunTime installation? (I didn't get the Run Engine version)

Re: Runtime V9 License at Site?

Oh I see - I don't think the setup is supposed to ask for a RT license with the "no active link tables" RTs.... at least that is what I was told.

Re: Runtime V9 License at Site?

I tried again at the site this morning and it still asks for the license and I used my RT v9 license and it wouldn't take it.

Anyone out there know what to do????

Looking at the CD it states Version 9 PLATINUM Run-Engine.

          BUT the sticker label states A5V9 - Lic RT_Basic - 1 user

          I purchased RunTime not Run-Engine.

I've done that and so far no response in over an hour. Trying Mr Rabins now.

Although an hour probably seems like an eternity to you and your client, it isn't really all that long in software support terms.

Looking at Alpha's software support page, if you purchased the product in the last 30 days, they would like you to post an incident to their help desk:

Re: Runtime V9 License at Site?

I tried using that too but it refused to submit because order number does not the right length and they haven't changed it to include V9 yet.

I've checked all the help files I could find and it also apparently is not entirely current for V9. There are references mostly to V8. The help file is also missing other V9 features such as the throttle.

Re: Runtime V9 License at Site?

                    SOLUTION IS:

RT license is needed when installing customer application.

RT license is same number that came with RT.

I thought you said earlier on that that didn't work?

he did, but apparently he was typing it in incorrectly.

The first time I did a copy and paste of the number saved to notepad on the flashdrive. Even manually typed it in after it failed.

The copy might have resulted in unseen characters being inserted.
