Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

V9 & CSDA Code Utility question.

Anyone using CSDA's code utility with V9 & Windows Vista HP have a message pop up whenever a arrow in the panel is clicked on. Message says divet handler error script line 11786 error # 2126.
Message does'nt do anyting (nuisance) and the utility runs fine. (Incrediable program for a nothing of a price for what it does. Anybody who plans on spending time with A5 "needs" to take a good look at it.)

Re: V9 & CSDA Code Utility question.

    Hi Jim,

This is a problem that did not show up in earlier versions of Alpha Five V9, but does in the more recent patches. It doesn't matter what the Operating System is. It does not seem to have any real effect on operation, but does creating an annoying error message to come up when rolling up the large menu's submenu rollups in the CSDA Code Utility 2.68 (current) and earlier.

The cause of the problem has not yet been determined, but is being looked at from the Utility's code point of view.

The other big problem is in the AEX installation not working, because recent patch releases of Alpha Five V9 are not loading the library from the Vista compatible application directories. Until this problem is resolved, AEX files will only work under the program directory in V9, typically a path of
C:\Program Files\A5v9\Addins_installed. Just move your AEX files there for V9, and things should start working.

I'm glad you are enjoying the use of the Utility. I hope to have the next update for it out soon, but it's been slow going and I can't give you a date for it yet. It definitely will have some big improvements and new features.

Re: V9 & CSDA Code Utility question.

To those having issues with installing the CSDA Code Utility version 2.68 under Alpha Five Version 9, or Alpha Five Version 9 RunTime, I have just posted a new install routine that automatically compensates for the differences in operations between the various patch releases of Alpha Five Version 9.

There are no new code changes to the operational code for this release (which is still version 2.68), just the install routines.

In using the CSDA Code Utility version 2.68 with some patch releases of Alpha Five Version 9, there is an error message that pops up each time a sub menu rolldown/up button (the small blue arrows) are changed. These can be ignored and will cause no other problems.

To download the update with the new install routines, run the Update Program button from the CSDA Code Utility's Help (?) button, or visit the website.

Re: V9 & CSDA Code Utility question.

The latest release of Alpha Five Version 9 Build 1593-3195, dated 8-Jul-2008 has fixed the problem that caused the CSDA Code Utility version 2.68 and earlier to have an error message popup when changing sub-menu sizes (small blue arrows) and positioning various windows in earlier patch releases of Alpha Five version 9.
