Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

center text in header of tableform

    Hello,

I am back from Magic\WinDev. Maybe you do still know I was developing my applications with Magic (old name)/eDeveloper (newer name)/UniePaas (newest name) . A few years ago I want to change my tool because Magic was too expensive and did not progress but stays as it was in the old days. I have tried for about a year WinDev, but could not get my fingers around it . Then Magic came with eDeveloper version 10 (the first real event driven version) including the possibility of a free tool (Discovery) and cheap runtimes for max. 3 users. And that was for me the reason to go back to Magic. But what happens now : Magic/eDeveloper gor a new name again : UniePaas and the runtime for the free tool is now available only in a 1-user runtime (OK : it's for free). That kind of actions makes me sick : they are only interested in the big boys .
So now I have decided to leave Magic definitely and because I had already looked in the past at AlphaFive and always upgraded from V5 to V6 to V7 to V8 to V9 Platinum now I give again AlphaFive a try.

I am now working with A5 a couple of days and I got a happy feeling in the beginning and that feeling did not disappear. My first action is to create standards, also in forms and about that I have a question.
I have created a tabel form (see 1st attachment) and set the header to a bigger height : that's no problem (see 2nd attachment). But the text remains in the same position : not horizontally centered and I can't find a property to change that behaviour . What am I missing? TIA.

    Regards,
    Teun van Unen,

P.S. I post it also at the wrong message board

    Hi,

In form design mode you need to double click on the browse column that you want to adjust text positioning. Once that column is highlighted, right click and choose properties. This will bring up the column properties dialog. Select the format tab and set the properties you desire.

      Hello Geoff,

Thanks for your reply, but that only reflects the data in the table-lines not the text in the table-header or am I wrong?

      Teun.

Select the column property and under the setup tab press Advanced Column Title. See Attachment.
