Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Firefox 3 and Alpha Software Help page

I recently upgraded to Firefox 3 and am experiencing issues with the Alpha Software Help page.

    http://support.alphasoftware.com/alp...lpv8/index.htm

When I visit this page with Firefox 3 it continuously reloads the page. The page will load to the point where I can see the Contents, Index, and Search buttons on the tool bar and then it will reload.

I had to break down and launch IE 7 in order to view the page.

    Anyone else having this issue?

Re: Firefox 3 and Alpha Software Help page

    Hi Andrew,

Maybe not the same issue, but close. Using Firefox I can load the online help (for v7, v8, v9), but nothing will show up for the search window---the search box is there, but nothing at all for the result box under it. It has been like this for a few weeks and had thought it was just my inexperience with Firefox.

As you have done, I am using IE to access the online help.

Re: Firefox 3 and Alpha Software Help page

I have V3 and am not experiencing your issues but my pages (not just Alpha) all seem to appear in bold using fonts such as Ariel. If I use a font such as Tahoma, it looks fine. My other computer still has V2 and the pages all look normal using all fonts. I looked for known issues in Firefox's Q&A but didn't find anything regarding display issues.

I use FF3 and have none of the problems described here. I use A5 OnLine help w. no problems whatsoever.

Re: Firefox 3 and Alpha Software Help page

I just uploaded V3 and on some web sites, including my own, the text color and graphic lines and bars disappear (no color). If I highlight the text area, I can see the text highlighted. I tried to go to options and change font and color, but to no avail. (Also, Alpha Forum lost all the blue bars between forums). I checked off the box that says let web site choose own colors and that brought back the blue bars on this forum, but no change in text and graphic lines for other websites.

This is the first time FireFox has caused a problem in any of their updates.....

ps: Interesting observation. I uncheck choose own color and my text in my website shows up, while the Alpha bars disappear. I can't seem to get both to work together.
