Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    problem installing a5 documenter

I have had the documenter program for some time now and looking for it in V9
A right click of a table does not give me the add ins. I assumed I need to install into V9 like I did in V 6 7 & 8 but when I tried that I got a message that it was already installed on my system. Next attempt was to copy the add-in folder from V8 to V9 but that also failed.

This post (that was found in the Similar Threads section below) may help you with your problem. At least it will help you understand how A5Doc is installed so that you could give us a little more help to know what has and has not been installed.

Ok that helped I guess I did not realize the program could only be installed to one version at a time. I did the uninstall then the new install went forward in my V9 directory

        Re: problem installing a5 documenter

The process for installing A5Doc in A5v9 is exactly the same as with previous versions.

When you run the A5Doc install routine, the target directory will default to A5v6. Change it to C:\Program Files\A5v9, or wherever A5v9 is installed. Do not put A5Doc on the end of the path. Then install should go correctly. Run A5v9 and now you can right click to get to Addins -> A5Doc.

A5Doc does not put anything in the addins_installed directory.

I have had two reports of the A5Doc download file on Alpha's site indicating it had a virus when scanned by Kaspersky (sp?). My A/V did not complain, but I have given a new file to Alpha and the warning no longer appears.

        Bill.

          Re: problem installing a5 documenter

There is no restriction to install A5Doc to only one version at a time. I have it installed to all my versions. Just installed it again to A5v6 and got no warning that it is installed to three other versions.

              Re: problem installing a5 documenter

There must be some difference in the way the installer, Astrum, is behaving on our systems. So just say NO to the uninstall.

The install for A5Doc is quite simple and I have posted here before the instructions for just copying it from one version to the next. But it is more straightforward to use the install routine.

              Bill.
