Alarm: checking table

Hello,

how I make a function that when I open a form based on a table, he checks all records (or a filtered number of records) and if finds some conditions a dialox box alerts the user.

In the specific in a hotel at the morning when opening the database a function has to scan all records (reservations) and alert if one of this was not signed as "arrived" the day before.

Hope my explenation was clear...

Asuming that "arrived" is a logical field and "date" is the name of your reservation field, your filter might be something like this:

query.filter = "arrived = .f. .and. date = date() - 1"

Yes I know query peter, But how can I make a controller that checks if there is some record that satisfy this query expression and only in that case pop up a dialog box?

I would like this action to start automaticly every morning as system is turned on. So that we can forget to check this records before going on with work....

He did answer in the other thread.

Your query can also count those records and then pop up a warning box to alert that one or some did not.

There are many threads on the subject here.

I do believe Peter was right about using the query. He is pretty smart.

You could put the query in an autoexec script - or the OnInit event of your main form (I think autoexec is better).

If query_results > 0 true then
ui_msg_box(your message here)
end if

There are many ways to handle this.

Let's say the table is named "reservations" and you have the logical field "arrived" and the field "date" for the reservation date, as mentioned by Peter G.
Then in the form's OnInit event, you can place this script:

query.filter="arrived<>.t. .and. date={"+(date()-1)+"}"
query.order=""
query.options="T"
ix=t.query_create()
nempties=ix.records_get()
if nempties>0 then
ui_msg_box("Alert",""+nempties+" reserved rooms were not filled.")

Hi Luca,

Here is another idea you could use.

In the Autoexec code have the form with the list you want displayed open conditionally using the function Tablecount().

This function will count all the records that match your criteria, if the count is greater than 0 then the form opens.

If you do not want a form then you could open a dialog box instead.

As Peter G. said there are many ways to do this.
