Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Email_send question

    I have a script as follows:

    :Report.SaveAs("Money_Rep1","PDF",query.filter,query.order,"Money_Bal.PDF",.f.)

    EMAIL_SEND("[email protected],[email protected]","Money Balnaces","","C:\Alpha5V9\brians\Money_Bal.PDF","","",.F.,"","","afakhoury",.F.)

    The script works except it doesn't send to the CC E-mail address.
    I sent the report manually, it goes thru fine, but from the script it doesn't.

    Any ideas?

    You don't have a CC email address specified, you have two primary email addresses. I don't see anything wrong with the way you have specified them.

    To experiment with a CC email address you could try.

    Code:
    EMAIL_SEND("[email protected]","Money Balnaces","","C:\Alpha5V9\brians\Money_Bal.PDF","[email protected]","",.F.,"","","afakhoury",.F.)

    I just did a test in the interactive window.

    rslt = EMAIL_SEND("[email protected],[email protected]","Empty file for test","","C:\test.txt","","",.F.,"","","default",.F.)
    Error sending message
    550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for [email protected]

    And another with no error.

    rslt = EMAIL_SEND("[email protected],[email protected]","Empty file for test","","C:\test.txt","","",.F.,"","","default",.F.)
    Issue seems to lie with your gmail address.

      I'm sorry Stan, the code I posted after I wanted to try to send to more than one address, but the code you sent is exactly what I have before and I changed the e-mail address but it didn't work.

      It shows on the first E-mail that a CC was sent, but it actually didn't go thru.
      I know it's not the email address because manually I could send it.

      Also the second email doesn't go thru if I have it as you saw, with a comma between the 2 addresses, I receive it only on the first email.

        Evidently you are not using alpha as your email client.

        You could try it with a semicolon, or try:
        EMAIL_SMTP_OPEN()
        and
        EMAIL_SMTP_SEND()
        instead of email_send()

            Stan;

            If I use the genie to do the same thing, the report gets delivered fine to the GMAIL address. It only doesn't work if it's called from a script.

            That really isn't a GMAIL issue.

              Re: Email_send question

              I don't know about gmail, but some email clients use semicolon instead of a colon between the addresses. As I suggested in the previous post, you might consider the other functions instead.

                Re: Email_send question

                Actually the semi colon works in MS exchange but not in A5, you get an error.
                I will test the way you suggested and see if that works.

                Thanks

                  Gabriel;

                  I tried the EMAIL_SMTP_SEND

                  same thing, it doesn't like GMAIL addresses, neither COMCAST.NET addresses.
