Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Script help

    I have a script to search serial numbers that worked great. I upgraded to V9 and changed the style of the form and now this is the message I am getting on push (see below). What do I need to do to resolve the below error?

    Script:scpFind_SerialNumbers line 10
    mlist = table.external_record_content_get("serial_number","padr(trim(Serialno),5
    No such field) : Property not found

    Thanks in advance,

    Kelley Martin

    Can we have a small sample table to test?
    There can be only one.

      Re: Script help

      Sorry I am still really new at all this. How would I send you a small sample table to test? Just create a new database and duplicate the table and script I created?

        Re: Script help

        That or you could copy your application to a new directory, open it, remove any sensitive data, zip it (Tools Menu, controlpanel).

        Post a reply here, scroll down to Manage Attachments, attach it.

                  Re: Script help

                  V9 must be more strict. Your script performs without error in v8, but it has errors.

                  In the line 10

                  Code:
                  mlist = table.external_record_content_get("serial_number","padr(trim(Serialno),5,' ')+' - '+padr(trim(Partnumber),30,' ')+' - '+padr(trim(Assemblywo),10,' ')+' - '+padr(trim(Invoice_Numb),10,' ')+' - '+padr(trim(Cus_Numb),8,' ')+' - '+padr(trim(Customer_Name),35,' ')+' - '+padr(trim(Cus_Po_Num),14,' ')+' - '+padr(trim(Rig_Number),10,' ')","[COLOR="SeaGreen"]Customer[/COLOR]","[COLOR="royalblue"]Mmbr_Statf[/COLOR]='All'")
                  There is no customer field to use as the order parameter and no Mmbr_Statf field to use in the filter parameter.

                  In the function at the end

                  Code:
                  mlist = table.external_record_content_get("serial_number","padr(trim(Serialno),5,' ')+' - '+padr(trim(Partnumber),30,' ')+' - '+padr(trim(Assemblywo),10,' ')+' - '+padr(trim(Invoice_Numb),10,' ')+' - '+padr(trim(Cus_Numb),8,' ')+' - '+padr(trim(Customer_Name),35,' ')+' - '+padr(trim(Cus_Po_Num),14,' ')+' - '+padr(trim(Rig_Number),10,' ')","[COLOR="Red"]Serialnumb[/COLOR]")
                  There is no "serialnumb" field to use as the order parameter.

                  serial_number table

                  Code:
                  Serialno	Character	5	0

                    I don't ahve v9, but I am going to bet that farm and that goat one more time:
                    I bet you if you add a filter it will work, i.e.:

                    table.external_record_content_GET(..same ole stuff here.., ".t.")

                      Thanks Stan, I was able to make those changes. I didn't create that script so I was lost. Thanks again. I works now.
