Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    rebranding issue

    Hi

followed the instructions and renamed oem.exe to tanalysis.exe. I've checked that both nameprod.exe and tanalysis.exe are in the folder: c:\program files\a5v9 runtime. If I select run--- cmd and then use:
    cd\
    cd c:\program files\a5v9 runtime
and then do a dir/p/w I can see both nameprod.exe and my tanalysis.exe

Yet when I type in nameprod tanalysis.exe "Golf Analysis Software"

I get the the error message "error file tanalysis.exe - not found"

It's there I can see it so where am I going wrong - is there a problem with the latest runtime patch?

    thanks

    Ian

    Re: rebranding issue

    Ian,

Recently I was using the branding utility too and had no problem with it.
The thing I see in your message is that the error message one receives might not always point into the right direction.
What I read in your message is that you renamed the OEM.exe.
The instruction #2 of the branding utility reads: "Copy the oem.xex file (do not rename it-copy it) to a new file called YourShortProductName.exe...etc".

Maybe worthwhile to check the instructions again.

        Re: rebranding issue

        Ian,
I think you had better clarify a bit for those that may be able to help with your problem...
I did copy oem.exe to my desktop and renamed it
whereas Jo stated in his post to you...
Copy the oem.xex file (do not rename it-copy it

          Re: rebranding issue

          Ian,

(Having read your post again I wonder if the OEM.exe is still in your runtime folder?)
          Thanks for clarifying.
In my opinion what you did leads to the same result as renaming the OEM.exe in the runtime folder. The OEM.exe might not exist in the runtime folder anymore, maybe it has a certain role in the NAMEPROD program!

I would suggest to follow the instruction that comes with the package to the letter and see if the error still appears.

          Best of luck.

            Re: rebranding issue

            Ian,

I did a test with my rebranding utility. Attached you can check the result.
Maybe you might find some hint in there?

I think you are using the runtime. I am using the runengine but that shouldn't make any difference.

              Re: rebranding issue

Thanks one and all, uninstalled the runtime and re installed using the previous update and its now working.

Think it must be a bug in the latest update

              cheers
