Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Print one page of mult-page rpt

This may be a dumb question, but can't figure out in the Print Preview window how to print only the current page. So if there are 6 pages and I only want to print page 3, can it be done? The help says the Print button displays the Print Dialog. Mine doesn't, unless it means that quick popup window showing progress.

    Ernie,
Go into your report, design mode, right click on the Report band, choose Properties, choose the printer tab and make sure that your correct printer is chosen and also that the checkbox is selected to have your print dialog box come up.

      Mike,
Thanks for getting back to me. I have just downloaded and installed the A5 Documentor program and was trying to print out one of their multi-page reports, but only wanted to print one page. Thought there would be a way in the Preview to get that done. So it can only be done in the design mode? Will get hold of Bill Parker, I think, who wrote the program. Just trying to save paper and print two sides.
      Thanks.

If Bill made his report without the print dialog box to pop up then he would have to be the one to change this as it is determined by either that checkbox or can also be done I believe via the printer override function....but again, this is out of your control in the A5Doc

          Hey Ernie,

This type of thing is always coming up with various programs. Take a look at www.fineprint.com It will solve this problem and many more. I use it to quickly look at a report and then print out only those pages that I need. Then I will print them up either 2 up or 4 up depending on the report. It's one of those utilities that you get and use it every day and wonder why it's not on everyones machine.

I echo Ernie's comment - FinePrint is a WONDERFUL program. I've been using it for more than 6 years, and couldn't live without it. Everyone should take a look at FinePrint.

Hi I just tried my A5 doc and did layouts / process and chose two forms. When preview came up I pressed the print icon and am able to chose 1 page or range or all. Showed same when I processed all 137 forms.
