A few questions: (V9 Platinum)
1.) Are a5 SETS (created from actively linked SQL TABLES) even update-able in the first place?
2.) *Under what conditions (if possible) are a5 active link TABLES and/or SETS (based on SQL QUERIES) editable?
3.) I presume the "best way" for maximum functionality of sql backend is to actively link to it via AlphaADO?
4.) Does "everything" (including field rule posting events etc...) "work" in A5 when using TABLES and /or SETS which are the based on actively linked sql TABLES and QUERIES?
Alpha v9 training videos make it look as if virtually everything works with any database as if I was working with a native a5 database. (Especially when using the Alpha ADO connection for enhanced functionality.) The previous version (v8) was very limited, although the sales pitch led me to believe otherwise. If so, v8 to v9 is a formidable upgrade.
*I ask this (question #2) because all the examples I have seen in the training info (from Alphasoftware) show linked sql based tables (including the active linked ones in a5) as not being editable. Hence. I'm wondering if only TABLES linked from sql can be editable! (???)
PS: Im writing this with MS SQL in mind, although a generalized response of "YES" would be very cool! And if so, just for kicks, I may even finally decide to download and install the current version mySQL.
