Second iteration of this thread... I still seem to be having some trouble with searching for information in a database using xbasic.
The application.
I have a tabbed form I created for entering daily journal info (kind of like an almanac). The form contains various fields that will be manually entered daily by the user. The user will enter info relating to facts, details, events (eg weather) about that day. Each day represents a new record in the primary table with the date being the primary key. Simple enough right?
The problem.
Once the form opens, I want the user to enter the date in the upper left hand corner of the form. If the date they enter is today or some date that does not yet have a record, they will be able to continue entering info in the new record as they tab to the next field. If the date entered is not the same as today, (and this is the part I am having trouble with) the record pointer should jump to the record that contains the date they entered as they tab to the next field; whereby, they will be able to edit the existing information for that day. For some reason, I cannot find information about how to get the record pointer to jump to the searched for record. If and case statements are not the problem but finding by date is.
Question:
Can someone show me how they would accomplish this, offer a hint, or tell me where to find more info?
