Re: Need Help with Adding...
Monatin -
You have created several different threads. Hard to keep track of what is going on with so many threads. For future reference AWS is me. The Zip file you have uploaded is not the same file I provided you in the other thread, it is missing the form and the operation. Please upload a sample demonstrating your claim of the operation not working on newly added data.

Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting
Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.
When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.
The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.
When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.
A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.
If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.
When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.
Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Re: Need Help with Adding...
monatin,
Best way to obtain help is by giving specifics....or a sample database which is actually preferred by most here.
In case you don't know how to attach a sample or even create one, do this..
If your database is small, include the entire db. If too large, then just include the program files (adb, alm, alx, alb) and the pertinent tables and support files (ddx, ddd, ddm, dbf). If part of a set, also include the set, sem, sex files.
If data is personal or privileged, then provide enough dummy data for the problem/issue to be found and resolved.
Main menu->Tools->Zip Database-> choose files.
To attach here. At the top of the reply box (advanced mode) choose the "Paperclip" icon, navigate to the zip file created, upload it, close the box. Place mouse cursor where you want to attach the file inside the messagebox, choose the dropdown arrow next to the "Paperclip" icon and choose the file you just uploaded.
Include here or in the database instructions that not only tell us what the problem may be and HOW to get to it, but also what SPECIFIC results you want. Use actual field names, and actual amounts.
The easier you make it for others to help the more likely you will get it.
Also, the more specific the question, the more likely the answer will be specifically for the question. Your "posting does not work!" is analogous to telling a car mechanic who asks what the problem is, that the car is broken and expect him to know what has happened.

Re: Need Help with Adding...
Thanks Tom Cone Jr.
Would you kindly give me an example.
Just FYI if in future the it the new data is added to 9001 it will be automatically calculated.
Thanks.

Re: Need Help with Adding...
This seems like the perfect spot to define a post field rule in the Account table. It can "add" the Store_account field value in each new record to the Total_Store_Account field in the parent table.

Need Help with Adding...
I started a subproject for a summer camp and here is the problem I am facing... Any help would be great.
My Data Structure is following:
Main table
Record_ID Name Total_Store_account
9001 Andrew (numeric field)
9002 Tom (numeric Field)
Account (One to many - set to Main Table linked with Record_ID)
Record_ID Name Store_account
9001 Andrew 9
9001 Andrew 10
9002 Tom 6
9001 Andrew 9
9002 Tom 10
so on....
So now I want a function that will add the data from Account table Store_Account and put it in Main table Total_Store_Account. I tried to use tabelsum, dbsum and total it does not work. As far as I know I cannot use total() in the field rule. Note that: since the data in Account table is not fixed I would like to have some function that will automatically add the data based on Record Id.
Thanks for the help.Tags: None
