Post operation to SQL backend

Hi guys,
I'm hoping for some guidance/ suggestions I must add I am fairly new to A% although I have used V7 in the past. I am trying to do something I assume is quite simple, that being posting data from and A5 native table to a remote MySQL table using a post operation.

1. Don't know if I'm supposed to be able to do this?
2. When I do try I get the following error:
"Error running Post Operation
The row changes could not be applied to the database.
This may happen when either the current row in the database has been changed or the row has been deleted.
Refresh the data to see the current server values.
See Trace window for more details."

there are no other users with either table so am at a loss as to why I'm getting the error.

Any suggestions?

There are no fields defined for the transaction table (the table to be updated).
You wrote that you are posting to a SQL back end. Are you trying to do this through an active link table?

Yes I am connected to the Mysql db via an active link table.

the script is just the xbasic generated when you create a post operation. It was not written by hand as it were.

If you can create a small example, this sounds like it could be a bug report. But you should first make sure that you defined fields in the destination (transaction) table that should be updated by the posting operation. The generated xbasic doesn't show any fields in the transaction table that should be updated. If you made the mistake, it's not a bug.
I suggest you first try posting to a similarly structured dbf table. If that works, then you know how to create a posting operation. Then try it on the active-linked MySQL table.

I have ...I think solved the problem.

I edited the active link table definition, on the sql update I have set the base update to primary key. It all seems to work now.
