Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Re: Deleting All Invoice Records

Seems to be working here. I can't edit the delete button code but I put in four items, pressed the delete button and two were deleted. Using the button again deleted one of the remaining and using it once again deleted the sole remaining item.

Edit the script to take out the itmstbl.fetch_next() and it should delete all on the first press.
    There can be only one.

      Thanks Stan,

I removed the fetch, entered 5 items. It deleted 4 of them and just left 1. Then I deleted that 1 ok. It's weird in that it is not grabbing all items at once especially with the fetch taken out. Boy I'm stumped with this one.. Aslo, just noticed that it just deleted the Invoice number from the header as well...

Not sure it's relevant, but noticed that your link fields (invvoice_header to Invoice_item) are different lengths. Not recommended. They should be same data type and length.

          Re: Deleting All Invoice Records

Actually, this length invoice change seemed to make a difference. All records were deleted at one fell swoop. Unfortunately, it is still deleting the Header Record as well, and I would like to keep that as a record......

            Re: Deleting All Invoice Records

Have you verified that the header is indeed deleted and not just eliminated from display by some filtering. There is nothing in the code to delete the header record.

              Re: Deleting All Invoice Records

Update to the last one. The Header Record does not get deleted. It just gets cleared from the screen. The Header Table still has the last deleted record in there which is what I want. Maybe so I do not confuse the customer, when I delete all of the records, I clear and close the form. In the end, this is what I wanted them to do anyway on a complete deletion.

Thanks to all for your help !! Ryland

                Re: Deleting All Invoice Records

Ryland, your set definition suppresses the display of parent table records that have no linked children. This probably explains what you've been seeing.

                    Re: Deleting All Invoice Records

Ryland, it depends upon your design requirements. What will the users be expecting? Personally, I never suppress the parent records when they have no linked children. (a) it makes it hard to enter children; and (b) my users react just like you did... they think they've deleted a header record when they actually didn't. Why did you suppress them in the first place?

                      Hi Tom,

One simple answer ... stupidity..lol..I was not paying attention to what I was doing when I set the relationships up. This time it got me good.
