Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Interactive Report

I have a problem with the "hotspot" on a print preview, when run on a 64bit computer.

The hotspot is as expected on 32 bit computers, but always appears half a line lower, and to the right on 64 bit.

I used the example outlined in the "what's new in version 9", but see no way to fix this. I added the border around the text object to add emphasis to the object.

    Any ideas??

    TIA
    Bill

    Hi Bill,

I've not worked with this feature but when did you add the border? What happens if you remove the border?

      Ken,

After the customer bitched about the hyperlink not working, I added the border to see what was wrong, because it looked and worked ok on my 32bit computer.

Then I noticed the hyperlink was down and to the right on her 64bit computer. The hyperlink works ok, if you can find it!

On a report with a couple of line items it is not hard, but when there is a page of line items, it is hard to click on the one you want...

Could be coincidence, but looks like the print margins are different between the two reports---about the same as the hotspot offset...although that should not cause this anyway, it could be the reason.

Was the report created on a 32 or 64 bit machine? It might make a difference.

            Ken,
Probably should wait for Bill to answer but the images are labeled with 64 and 32 respectively as suffixes so assumed the two were screenshots of the same report from 64 bit and 32 bit OS.

EDIT---reread--understand now your question Ken---whether the report was created on just one computer (32 or 64 bit) and then perhaps just brought into the other....good point! :)

Yah, that's what I was thinking cause I had to redo a few reports when I switched to a 64 bit machine. However, going from 64 to 32 has not been a problem.

I made the reports on my 32 bit computer. You think I should try making it on the 64 bit computer? Worth a try...

                Thanks,

I tried creating a report on a 64 bit computer, but the results were the same. Actually the cursor changes to a hand, but two lines below where it should be??

Another factor might be this is a hp laptop with ATI graphics.

Is there something about ATI that needs set?

                  TIA
