Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Report fails to access all records

I have a situation where reports do not recognize all of the records in a table. I discovered while tinkering with the expression builder under "Select records to print", that it only evaluated records 1 thru 525 of 1272 total records, (when I tested the filter). My first thought was that the table was corrupt, but all records can be accessed using view or browse functions.
I just switched to A5V9 from A5V8. Also have copied databases to a central computer on the office peer to peer network, (its a small office). I've tried using both v8 and accessing the database locally, with the same results as above.
    Any idea's would be appreciated!

Re: Report fails to access all records

It seems to me that Alpha Five is doing what you've told it, not what you meant to tell it. A plight I recognize from many personal experiences. Perhaps if you post a copy of the database we can look over your shoulder and explain what's going on. Remember to give us directions to follow in order to find and trigger the behavior you're seeing.

"Manage Attachments" is an option using the advanced message editor here. Begin a reply, click go advanced button, browse for and upload a zipped copy of the database, then submit your reply. This is a public forum, so you should purge or scramble private information first, of course.

    And, one last thing.

    Welcome to the message board!

Re: Report fails to access all records

Tom - Sorry for the delayed response. I am working on a database I can post now. As it contains confidential information, I am taking my time changing names and generating random numbers in place of the real data (in copied tables of course). I appreciate you responding!

Re: Report fails to access all records

It seems I've stumbled over the problem. I've moved all my Alpha data files to a central computer in the office, without taking the necessary precautions or planning steps. (Files were in different folders, and I just cut and pasted them to the other computer). I'm reviewing the help files now, in particular, "Multi-User Alpha Five Applications" (that I believe you had a hand in). If I have further problems, I should probably post to a new thread.

        Thanks, and wish me luck!

Why pick on Pittsburgh? They're not nearly as bad as Tampa.
              There can be only one.

Stan- you should be a Bungles fan this year. I lived in Pittsburgh for 20 years and had to endure the "Stillers" fans everyday at work. Now I'm in Southern Ohio so the Bungles are the team du jour.
