Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Tab Order in Xdialog

    Hi All

    I have a Record List - Combo Box within a form in a xdialog script.

    In a normal xdialog form the tab order follow the fields as they are laid out.

    My problem is that I have the Record list Combo box at the top of the form and when the user tabs to the next line from the combo box, it actually goes to the cancel button at the bottom of the form. My code is 800 lines long its a take on the Genie from learning xdialog

    the code below is my page from the genie the second bit of code is the code that makes the combo box

    Andy

    Code:
    page_5 = <<%dlg2%

    ui_modeless_dlg_box("genie",<<%dlg%

    {cellspillover=on}
    {region}

    Hi Andy,

    Try this from the Learning Xdialog.

    Notice the {Tab=Page} and {endtab}|
    Code:
    dim a_card_type[100] as c
    x = "American Express,Visa,Master Card,Discover"
    a_card_type.initialize(stritran(x,",",crlf()))
    dim a_expire_month[12] as c
    x = "01,02,03,04,05,06,07,08,09,10,11,12"
    a_expire_month.initialize(stritran(x,",",crlf()))
    dim a_expire_year[10] as c
    x = "2000,2001,2002,2003,2004,2005,2006,2007,2008,2009"
    a_expire_year.initialize(stritran(x,",",crlf()))

    page = "Shipping"
    result = ui_dlg_box("Title",<<%dlg%

      The easiest way is to rearrange the XDialog controls to follow the normal tab order. Alternatively, you can use the {INITIAL_FOCUS}, UI_DLG_CTL_GOTO() to control the control that has focus.

      If you set up your event code in the Xdialog, you can use the KILLFOCUS event to transfer control to the object of your choice after it leaves a control.

      You could also probably use the {ONKEY} to do a similar thing by trapping the TAB key

        Re: Tab Order in Xdialog

        Hi Ira

        If you take a look at my code below you will see that it is in the order that I want the tab to go, If I enter the "Select Price Band" and use the tab it will not move to the next field.

        Code:
        ui_modeless_dlg_box("genie",<<%dlg%

        {cellspillover=on}
        {region}
        Finance:;
        {lf};
        Select Price Band:| [%@vpriceB_rl_def%.15vpriceB] ;
        {lf};
        Credit Status | [.12Credit^=crate] ;
        {lf};
        Credit Checked: | [.15creditchecked^=Ccheck] ;
        {lf};
        Credit Limit | [.10Vlimit];
        {lf};
        Terms In Days | [.10Vterms];
        {lf};
        V.A.T. Rate | [%r%.30Vvat];
        {lf};
        V.A.T. Number | [.30Vno];
        {endregion};
        {region=b}
        {condition=(Class="E = EC Vat Registered")}
        VAT Format:| [%mwr%.40,5vatinput];
        {endregion}
        {condition=.t.}
        {region=b}
        {endregion}

        %dlg%,<<%code%
        I have tried to use the case statement you pointed me to but when I do the tab will not work at all

        Code:
        dim current_control as C = ""
        dim target_control as C = ""

        ui_dlg_box(dlg_title,<<%dlg%
        {startup=init}
        {on_key=enter}
        {on_key=tab}
        {region0}
        .......................................

        if a_dlg_button = "tab"
        a_dlg_button = ""
        current_control = alltrim(ui_dlg_ctl_current(dlg_title))
        select
        case current_control = "[vpriceB]"
        target_control = "[crate]"
        end select
        ui_dlg_ctl_goto(dlg_title,target_control)

        end if
        Any help you could give would be great

          Re: Tab Order in Xdialog

          Andy, here's an example that may help you.

          Run the only script you'll find in the code page of the control panel.

          Tab through the fields.

          Notice the directionality of the tab sequence. I've reversed the normal sequence.

          When you study the code notice that I pass the full control specification (definition) to the ui_dlg_ctl_goto() function.

          Hope this helps.
