Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Alpha Store

I post this because I think this is important after what has happened.

There has been a security issue the way credit card information has been stored in Alphas Store. The information has been stolen.

November 9 2009 I did get email from Alpha saying that they do not anymore store credit card information on their site.

Today I assumed everything is NOW in order in AlphaStore and I made decision to buy an Alpha Add-On. So I went to store:

Step 1. I did select the product.
Step 2. I did login as an old customer.(I own alpha 7,8,9)
Step 3. And then I entered to the Billing Information Page.

There is already Credit Card type: Visa(I do have Visa)
There is nothing in the Credit Card Number (NO FIELD)
There is northing in the Expiration Date (NO FIELD)
There is nothing in the Enter Security Code, but there is a choice to Enter Security Code. And that is the only field where information can enter in this page.

Step 4. I did enter nothing I cancelled the shopping process..

So what does this mean? Do Alpha still have my credit card number stored?

Is it safe to buy from Alpha?

    Re: Alpha Store

Well that's pretty weird. But it suggests that Alpha does NOT have any info stored. They probably redirect you to another site for bill pay (maybe). You might want to check w. Alpha sales tomorrow.

No, The only choice is to enter the three digit code.

And to use the the tree digit code they do have to have my credit card number.

        Re: Alpha Store

I went to the same form and it allowed me to save a credit card number of "test" and an expiration date of 99/01 (month=99, year =2001).

When I tried to make a purchase, it said I could not use that credit card info, and did wipe out my cc information.

But when I entered a valid credit card, saved to my account and then logged in from a different browser (there's no logout button so you can't actually log out), the cc information was still there.

So either, the CC information will stay there, or it will be wiped out when the session expires, or on some schedule, or when I make a purchase. But as of now, it is being 'retained'.

            Re: Alpha Store

Ken, just because it allows you to enter the code does not mean your cc is being saved. It probably just means the code field allows entry, and the other fields don't. You'd have to try an actual purchase to find out I guess.

Customers job is not to test Alphas Store. It just shoud work.
Alpha did say they do no save credit card information.
              We should belive.

To me the case is closed. I just wait and see if there will be any improvments in handling credits cards.

Luckly it is easy to everybody to check if their credit card information is saved by Alpha. Just go to Alpha Shop and Sign In.

I know what you are saying, but Alpha benefits from us 'checking up on them', even though it must be a PITA.

                  Re: Alpha Store

I did realize that Alphas Store is still same as it was in october and they still in november save credit card information against their official new policy so I do not want to take a risk and I now cancelled my credit card.
