Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Fusion Chart Alpha Genie Error

    OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
    Alpha 5 Version 8/9
    Charts cannot be previewed:
When trying to preview a chart, the following error message appears:
    Code:
Script:UI_MODELESS_DLG_BOX:A5/FusionCharts Genie line:14 Create_ui(vOutput) function is not recognized.
I also cannot save charts as an image. The Dialog Prompt for the Filename/Notes in Image Save appears, but "ImageSaveConsole has stopped working" (A Windows Error) appears; and the file is not saved despite the genie stating it is.

    Thank you for your time.

Re: Fusion Chart Alpha Genie Error

I responded to this as well via private email, but I will note that some people are having problems saving FusionCharts images on Windows 7. This is a FusionCharts issue that I have addressed with them, and I will re-address it tomorrow. They're a very responsive group so I expect some resolution.

Re: Fusion Chart Alpha Genie Error

I just downloaded the charts and purchased the genie and am trying it for the first time and am getting the same error. My PC is XP sp3.

        Randall -

I know A5/FusionCharts runs on XP.

Start by opening up just the A5FusionCharts database, and see if you can load a predefined chart from there and preview it.

If not, the next step is to make sure you have a current/latest version of Flash Player installed on your PC.

Re: Fusion Chart Alpha Genie Error

It's a new day. Rebooted machine, opened A5 FCGenie, opened piechart sample and clicked preview. Same error. Also followed video with Red & Blue bar chart.
I should note that although I posted as part of this v9 thread, I am actually using A5/v8. I do see a v10 in my future this summer.

Re: Fusion Chart Alpha Genie Error

I have another user with version 8; I'm using a version 9 and higher function at one point, and have yet to create a version 8 workaround-build.

I already know what I need to do -- let me see if I can get to that in the next few days.

Or, you could take advantage of A5v10 low low prices and just move since you should anyway. ;)

Summer starts early! Version 10 is now installed and the genie is working fine. Back to training! Thanks!

Heck, that's like Easter and Christmas rolled all into one. Happy charting!
