Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Transfer value upon click inside a browse

    This is estrange & weird request.:
    In the form Product Usage there is a field ENTRYNO
    When this field is filled onchange will be added to vValue field.

    I need to click on the column/row of QTYUSED or QTYWASTED( Getting the focus)in the browser and the amount in vVALUE be transferred to that column/row and also clear the vVALUE variable.

    I can do it with a button as I show in the sample attached.

    Enter a value in ENTRYNO and the value will go to the column/row where the focus is selected.
    If no focus in the browse selection is made, it will go to the first column/row of the button selected, either used or wasted.

    Can it be done? What event could do this?

    As you have seen, there is no onrowclick event. You can code the onrowdblclick or you can place a button in the browse row and code the button.
    There can be only one.

        Stan I am not sure if that approach is what I want.
        I am thinking a more direct way.
        In order to do it, I need to force a (move to the next record) after a record entry to move to the next line in the browse.

        Just like when entering data in a browse, At the last field just enter the data and press ENTER and you move to the next line.

        Assuming to have different buttons for each item.
        In this case the button for Cups.

        In the field rules, I did make the fields in the browse to tab after filled, but upon entering data, the cursor remains in the record just entered.
        Here is the code I used:

        parentform:Browse2:Product.value = "cups"
        parentform:Browse1:Qtyused.value = vValue
        vValue = 0
        parentform:Entryno.value = 0

        What will be the code to move to next record in the browse, to press another button and add another record?

          The code to move to the next line and start a new record, given that we are on the current last record is

          ProductUsage:browse1.Fetch_Next()

          The code to move to the current last record and begin a new record, from anywhere in the browse is

          ProductUsage:browse1.Fetch_Last()
          ProductUsage:browse1.Fetch_Next()
          There can be only one.

              Re: Transfer value upon click inside a browse

              Al Thanks for the indication given. In the past I have used some of those term as I was instructed, But I did not explore more about them.

              Stan
              Thanks for 2 lines of code, but I tried to use them and I did not get the result I was looking for.
              I tried to place them in various locations, but the results are erratic.
              Here is the code in a button to load the values from one Variable, Clear them, save and move to the next line in the browse.

              ProductUsage:browse1.Fetch_Last()
              parentform:Browse1:Qtyused.value = vValue
              parentform:Browse1:PRODUCT.value = "Cups"
              vValue = 0
              parentform:Entryno.value = 0
              topparent.commit()
              ProductUsage:browse1.Fetch_Next()

              This was the last configuration, I did have the fetch lines in different locations.
              I have attached a sample.
              Can you indicate why or how can I correct it?

              I realize that I am moving away from the original post.
              Should I have started a new thread?

                Re: Transfer value upon click inside a browse

                ProductUsage:browse1.Fetch_Next() is not creating a new record in the browse. Line should be

                ProductUsage:browse1.New_record()

                But using a button outside the browse shifts focus away from the browse and the new record created is abandoned.

                See if the attachment is something like you want. Browse onrowdblclick event used.

                We could place a dropdown list representing a variable on the form for the user to make "type" choices and use that variable to fill in the product field in the browse instead of the ui_get_text().

                  Re: Transfer value upon click inside a browse

                  Stan, That was good, but I had to move one line, the one that makes a new record to the top.

                  Attached is the sample. As you saw The object was to enter a # in entryno and then click the cups or plates buttons and enter the value in the next record.
                  It seems very good now.
                  Notice the claculations of totals for each product.
                  I got the code for the variable, from one of your previous thread.

                  it looks good to me.

                  One question: What is the use of productusage: in front of the fetch lines
                  is that a reference to the field product?

                  I hope, I did not capitalized too much of your time.

                  Thanks, Thanks.

                    Re: Transfer value upon click inside a browse

                    Productusage is the form name so the full explicit addressing for objects on the form begins with

                    Productusage:

                    Generally you can remove that portion, I just dragged it into the code window that way.
