Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Go To Last Record

I have a form with a Base Query (in Form properties). The issue I am having is the script to go last record in OnInit is not working. I tried a few of the suggestions in previous posts without success: use XBasic wait for idle, IndexSetexplicit. If I remove the BaseQuery, the fetch_last() works. I tried to set the BaseQuery in the OnInit instead of in the form properties but it made no difference.
Any idea on how to get A5 to go last record when opening a form that has a basequery?

If you truly have to have a basequery, then have you tried removing it and then placing it back in with say
topparent.BASEQUERYRUN("","",.f.,"YourTableName") to remove and then placing your filter/order as the 1st/2nd parameter of the function to reinstate?

      Hi Mike:
Tried your suggestion but no luck, tried variations of your suggestion (with wait for idle), no luck either. It seems there are some scripts that don't work in the OnInit.

Try it in the OnActivate and if it can be made to work there, make it so the OnActivate event will only fire once for your code (with a logical variable)--this will emulate the OnInit event....I am assuming that you chose the OnInit event as you only want this to fire the one time only.

Which last record do you want to go to.The last one in the set of records that satisfies the base query or the very last record in the table and if in the whole table do you want the last entered or some other order.

            Hi Mike:
Yes correct I want it to fire the one time only, when the form is open; from there the user is free to navigate to any other record. It is just a bit annoying to open a form and see the pointer positioned on the very fist invoice (April 1st 2007)

            Hi Tim:
            Here is more info:
I have a simple set Invoice-Invdetails; I have set a base filter in the parent's form properties to filter for a certain currency (say EUR), no order set in the base filter. I want the pointer to go to the last entered invoice in EUR on opening the form.
Note: I have 3 forms with the same issue: one to show invoices in USD only, one to show invoices in CAD only, one to show invoices in EUR only. So, when I open the USD form I want to see only USD invoices and the pointer to be positioned on the last entered record in USD. Currently when I open the form, the base filter is in effect but the pointer is always on the first record.
            Thanks

              .fetch_last(1)
'1 for the parent. Use the appropriate level.
