I have had a few instances where a runtime machine with the database open or the actual machine hosting the database while someone has the files open shuts down. Upon this occurring, all the indexes for the table that was open get wiped out. They just disappear like they were never there. I am not 100%, but fairly certain that these events are coinciding.
Assuming that this is the cause, how do I prevent it? Obviously I have told everyone to quit out of the application when done using it or at the end of the day, but as you know that doesn't always happen. You then get instances where windows will reboot over night or there is a power outage and you're done.
I again assume that the table has been left open in an unsaved mode, although it's possible that it is in a lookup mode. Is there any sort of a routine that could be running to check if a table has been left open and unsaved for a certain amount of time that it saves and closes it automatically? If so does anyone have something written as I do not do this for a living and it would take me a long while to figure out?
I would also then ask could you have the application also save and close out of the application at a particular time?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. As a fix, when it does happen I found a link to AIMS Index_Rebuild Creator. Is anyone familiar with this and does it work well. I could use this when it does happen.
Thanks in Advance,
Chris
