I'm getting desparate and hoping somebody here can point me in the right direction.
I've recently installed a new app for a new customer. The computers are brand new (purchased just for this upgrade from A4), running Win98SE, and are used almost exclusively for the A5 app. The network is simply using the Win98 networking (not NT, etc.) and has 5 computers on the network with one computer used only as the server.
The app uses the Customers table to find a customer (currenly over 20,000 customers) and then opens a form based on a set with 4 tables linked one-to-many. This form is opened with a query so that only orders for that customer number will be shown. They then add/enter orders as necessary.
Orders->
->Order_items
->Payments
->Customers (to show customer name, number, etc. on order form)
The app works flawlessly on my stand-alone system. It also seems to work flawlessly with 2 networked computers. Unfortunately, they need to have 4 people entering orders at the same time.
When more than 2 users on on the network, it soon starts to pull up the wrong information when looking up orders. They also sometimes get the infamous "Cannot resynch on index" error but this does not necessarily coincide with the look up problems. They have also said that the problems seem to start after they see a blue line at the bottom that looks like the line that runs during the network optimize. I have not seen this line and have no idea why it appears - sounds like some kind of refresh???
I've tried creating different forms, different sets, and made a few other minor A5 changes. Two network experts, one I know well and trust, looked at the network and find nothing wrong. Nothing seems to fix the problem but if I can't fix it soon I may have to refund their money because the app is currently un-usable.
Has anyone run into something similar and found a fix? All ideas appreciated.
Thanks,
Cal
