Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Jake,

I haven't looked at you zip yet but what is your question and what do you think is the bug?

Sorry for not be more explicit in my previous posts. I'm not sure where the bug comes from. All I know is that adding the browse causes the problem. I would like to verify that it is a bug and not something I have done, and if so, let Selywn know so that it will be fixed. Thanks.

Jake, the zip file does not contain the ECRO form. This is the form you mentioned as having the problem. Is there somewhere else I should look?

Incidentally, the zip file is missing the docket set, too. Looks like maybe you have the tables in one folder and the set in a different one, though this may have just occurred as you were pulling out the relevant portions just for this message board.

Sorry about not having the Docket Sheet Set included in the zip. I'm trying again. Thanks.

            Jake,
Perhaps you should the steps necessary to trigger the issue. I followed the outline you left in the original thread and did not see any 'bounce'. The Transc record was changed just fine.
In looking at the Ecro form I see that you've mislabelled Browse1 and Browse2. Could that be contributing to the issue, perhaps in a script you've written? The browse into Calendar table is actually Browse2. While the browse into Transc table is actually Browse1. Check the properties of each and you'll see what I mean.

              Jake:

I was able to duplicate the anomaly. I am unsure why this is occuring.

It seems to occur (only???) with the date fields that appear in both browse1 (labeled browse2)and the sub-form.

The jump occurs in the form also, if the overlapping date is changed in the browse.

By pressing the F9 key before advancing to the next field, the jump is avoided in the form. This is not the case if the date is changed in the browse, as the jump in the form is instantaneous.

I'm too tired to really analyze this, but wanted to post my observations...

                Jake:

Try eliminating the sub-form (unless there is some reason you really need it).

I think this is causing you issue. Just use the parent form...

Dave, I think Craig's idea of eliminating the subform is a good one, too. There's no need for it since you can drop fields from the Transc table directly on the form, below the two browse objects. -- tom

                    RE: Bouncing Browse2

Craig and Tom thanks for the help. The reason I have a subform is so that I can put the subform in NewRecord Mode. Since the form is based on a set, if I try to put the form in NewRecord Mode, the top table in the set is put in NewRecord Mode.

I did drop the fields from the subform directly on the ECRO form and was successful in changing records in browse2 and the fields below. However it was necessary to enable Enter Record on browse2 so that I could successfuly enter a new record. I do not want to do this although I realize I may have no choice. Do either of you know the how I should notify A5(Selwyn) so that this problem is corrected? Thanks.

Jake, I think your strategy may be dangerous. I would think you'd be on sounder ground to call a subsidiary form if you need to enter a new grandchild record.
