Hi! I'm a Alpha 5 newbie and am working my way through the manuals. I apologize if this question has already been answered.
I have created a form with an embedded browse. Below the browse I have a "Change" button, so the user can select a record in the browse, click "Change", and be taken to another form that has just that record on it so he can edit it. I used the example found in the "What's New in Version 4" PDF file, page 11 to set it up.
So far so good, everything works fine. But, when I close the child form and then close the form with the embedded browse, the filter I invoked when hitting the "Change" button seems to still be in effect. I know this because when I open up the browse form again (or even the default browse form for that table), only the record I was editing shows up. I have to click on the "Show All" button on the toolbar to get all of the records to show up.
I fixed the problem by putting the Show All command in the OnExit event of the child form, but I am still curious as to why I had to do this.
I thought that the filter that I created in the "Change" button on the browse form would only last while the child form was open, since it has the format of:
layout_ptr:tables:dept.filter_expression.......
Doesn't this mean that the filter is in effect only as long as the layout referenced in layout_ptr is open?
Sorry for the rambling and also if this is a dumb question. Thanks in advance for any help.
