Using Variable to filter info.

I am building a user logon feature based on DR Wayne's Xbasic book. I have the application asking and saving the user name and password but now I need to allow the user to change their passwords. I have created a form for them to do this with but they have access to all users names. I want to restrict them to only being able to change their information. How would I filter the change form based on the user name variable?

Assuming the user name is stored in a global variable called vUser_Name at start up; and
assuming the Change Name form is based on a table which includes a USERNAME
field of the same type...

You could add a global variable to your Change Name form, and give it the same name... vUser_Name

Then in the Setup tab of the Form's Properties define a filter like this

tablename->USERNAME = var->vUser_Name

Then, also in Setup tab change default settings for the form to restrict enters, deletes, and all navigation.

You will, of course, need to modify the variable, table, and field names described here to match those you are using.
