Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

Possible bug in v4.5 or windows ME?

While working in table restructure, up till now the cursor would not move down more then one row below the last used one. Now if one holds down the Down arrow Key the cursor dose not stop, and when trying to close the restructure table (save or not) the error Table row has not been completed keeps on popping up and the only way out is to use End Task.
I recently changed to Windows ME so I dont know if this is a v4.5 Bug or a ME bug

I've noticed the same behavior in Win 2K though I'm not sure if it's specifically OS related. It's as if the restructure card has saved spaces in one of the fields. If you Shift/Select the empty spaces below and then delete you can usually recover.Once Or twice I've had to select/cut/paste the last few fields and the spaces below before I was able to escape. It's annoying but not fatal.

RE: Possible bug in v4.5 or windows ME?

      Hi to you both,

I'm interested in this one as I just got a new pc with ME installed (OEM). But I do not have 4.5 on this machine so it serves as a test case. I'm still at 4.03 Build 230.

I was unable to duplicate the issue on this machine. Hence, it would appear to be 4.5, or 4.5 and ME, an OS upgrade issue, or a mystery.

      Regards,

Nah. This problem has been around for at least a year. It might even be longer, long before either 4.5 or WinME. I found both the problem and the solution by fluke. When you've accidently added blank rows to a table, simply click on the row button to highlight the first blank row and then delete it. Then click on the first blank row and ......

Keep doing this until a click on the row indicator doesn't produce a highlighted row. Then you can save the table.

In fact, it's possible that the problem was in 4.3 even.

I'm with Daniel. I found it impossible to move below the last blank line. Do I misunderstand?

RE: Possible bug in v4.5 or windows ME?

I apologize. This bug is more recent than I thought.

I loaded A5V3 on a Win98SE machine and the problem was not there. I then loaded it on a WinME system and the problem was not there. I then loaded the initial release version of A5V4 (Build 95) on the WinME and the problem was not there. From this we can presume the issue is not one of WinME.

I recall discovering the problem when working on one of two machines....both with Win98 but now I'm not certain what version it was in. When it happened I was a bit upset but as soon as I stumbled on the work-around, I never gave it another thought.

So...I guess all I can say with certainty is that it's been around for a while and that the work-around does work.

              Sorry for any confusion.
