Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    What I do when I don't A5

Not an Alpha message, but what the heck -- lots of people I know are here.

This is what I'm doing in my "spare" time:

    Hi Steve,
I am also hooked on Alpha. At least you can answer most questions that are asked on this board. I have to scan thru them and look for a question that I can answser and jump on it before you guys gobble it up and leave me out.
    Good night all,
    Bob

Naw, barns in Iowa aren't in that good of condition. You can just ask Jim Chapman who lives there. This one's in West Virginia where I live.

          Steve,

You said "Treasured wood".... what do you do with the wood?
Is the wood really a treasure or has it's age given it
desirable characteristics? I am not really a collector of
anything any more, but I am fascinated by just about anything
that has been around for a while!

I may not share your intrest in taking down an old barn, but I
          support your enthusiasm.

          Good Luck Steve

The wood is a treasure, highly prized by many builders, architects and designers. Because the barn is 50 to 100 years old, it has age characteristics that make it even more valuable.

I'll sell some, use some for spare parts for my barn, and make lots of furniture and other goodies with it. There are also some other things in the barn that are worth a lot. For instance, I already found the hay fork trolley, complete and intact (pictures later). That's a collector's item, but I'll clean it up to make it look like new and keep it for myself.

Well, I don't have a web site but up late trying to get McAfee Office to install. What a @#$%^&*()!. McAfee techs are even stumped. You know how to find a file that can't be found in regedit or in the Find Files/Folders?

Anyhow, I do Financial Attitude Adjustment. No, I'm not a debt collector.

                Steve,

My father in law has a farm in Mo. north of Kansas city. The farm house and barn were built before the Civil War. It looks more like a Ma and Pa Kettle type farm instead of TERRA. I can understand your fascination with your project. It seems like some farmers NEVER EVER get rid of anything. I think he only keeps the farm for my son to vacation there evry year. Last year he caught a 16 pound bass (catch and release is our policy). A grandfather and grandson together on a farm should be a Norman Rockwell.

This is a web site I started a year ago - The local CLCA chapter about died through lack of participation. I decided a web site would help get the word out... I did the web site myself for a few months, then we passed it to an independent

                  http://www.clca-sfbae.org/board.htm

I am the guy in back, with the glasses (staring at a monitor too much?) We are a non-profit group of volunteers. The guy on the right, Nate is an ex employee that I fired as he really needed to run his OWN business. Now he's truly on board with me! His business is booming, his new wife is pregnant. He is the only one using my A5 application to date - but that is mostly because I won't stop developing it.
