Bonus TIPS for Successful Posting

Try a Search First
It is highly recommended that a Search be done on your topic before posting, as many questions have been answered in prior posts. As with any search engine, the shorter the search term, the more "hits" will be returned, but the more specific the search term is, the greater the relevance of those "hits". Searching for "table" might well return every message on the board while "tablesum" would greatly restrict the number of messages returned.

When you do post
First, make sure you are posting your question in the correct forum. For example, if you post an issue regarding Desktop applications on the Mobile & Browser Applications board , not only will your question not be seen by the appropriate audience, it may also be removed or relocated.

The more detail you provide about your problem or question, the more likely someone is to understand your request and be able to help. A sample database with a minimum of records (and its support files, zipped together) will make it much easier to diagnose issues with your application. Screen shots of error messages are especially helpful.

When explaining how to reproduce your problem, please be as detailed as possible. Describe every step, click-by-click and keypress-by-keypress. Otherwise when others try to duplicate your problem, they may do something slightly different and end up with different results.

A note about attachments
You may only attach one file to each message. Attachment file size is limited to 2MB. If you need to include several files, you may do so by zipping them into a single archive.

If you forgot to attach your files to your post, please do NOT create a new thread. Instead, reply to your original message and attach the file there.

When attaching screen shots, it is best to attach an image file (.BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, etc.) or a zip file of several images, as opposed to a Word document containing the screen shots. Because Word documents are prone to viruses, many message board users will not open your Word file, therefore limiting their ability to help you.

Similarly, if you are uploading a zipped archive, you should simply create a .ZIP file and not a self-extracting .EXE as many users will not run your EXE file.

    Tired and frustrated

I have updated from alpha 5 ver. 1 to alpha 5 ver. 4.3. I have had lots of help form this meeage board and I thank all of you for your help. I still can not get the phone dialer to work. It works on ver. 1 but will not on ver. 4.3. I get message that says " A telephony resourse is temporarily unavailable. This could mean a short wait is nesessary or that a non-TAPI application is using the line" Why does it work on ver 1 and not ver. 4.3? I read the user guide and look at field rules and did what the user guide said and it will not work.

How do you print marked records? I have looked all over the user guide book and its not clear how to do this.

I still cant get a startup application to work and I follow the user guide book step by step. The tool box button will not stay on the application form when I click it on the tool box. I reloaded the program and it still wont work. All I am trying to do is Design a start up menu form that has buttons to open databases, run repots, print letters and lables. This is very basic but the user guide seems to not expalin things step by step.
I started the application fron my names.dbf form and on design mode erassed the form and started designeing the startup application form from this. I can not find a way to start a brand new form. I try to put on a button and the genie will not pop up. Sometimes a box pops up with all my fields in it from my names database. The startup application screen in ver. 1 was easy to build and it worked. What has changed in ver. 4.3?

Mabe I need more training in programing.

I look at the Dr. book for 29.95 and would buy it if it is designed for beginners. Thank you, Patrick

    RE: Tired and frustrated

Telephony problems indicate that your line is tied up with another program that doesn't like to share the resource( pcanywhere , fax software, ect.)

Printing marked records - go to reports-start a new report and follow the genie. When the form design pops up click on FORM, DETAILS, RECORDS and click on MARKED ONLY. Save the form and now you can print marked records.

The other problems need to be broken down step by step and we need more information.
