Tablesum Simple Default Expre Will not Activate

I have a tablesum expression that works in the interactive window but when I put it in the simple default expression of the field rules will not activate when I go into the form. I tried

t=table.current()
t.change_begin()
t.change_end(.t.)

in the on activate of the forms actions.

the following expression is in the field unleaded6

fueldate is indexed unique, the record having the match fueldate is the next record in the table. The fueldate in the particular record is equal to 08-02-2000 and I want it to search the table for the date 08-03-2000 by adding 1 to the current fueldate, and then put the number in unleaded5 of the matched record into the current field unleaded6

TABLESUM("fuel.DBF", "fueldate=date()+1", "Unleaded5")

I studyied the forum search and have come up with no results.

FWIW. I had a similar experience and decided (rightly or wrongly) that A5 was smart enough to know I didn't change anything and would, therefore, not update the record. I created a new logic field in the table called trigger. Then put this in the script:

tbl=table_current()
tbl.change_begin()
tbl.trigger=if(tbl.trigger,.f.,.t.)
tbl.change_end(.t.)
this.resynch()

The script forces a change in the trigger field and may work. Hope this helps.

Hi Don,

Are you saying it newer evaluates?
A default expression evaluates when entering a new record and the field in question is entered. It does not update itself after that, nor does it force the expression value. It sounds like you may need to use a calculated field instead of a default field.
