I'm having trouble with labels containing a logo graphic on a client's HP 4500 Lasercolorjet (or whatever it's called) using the Avery 5267 definition provide within A5. Specifically, the labels are 4 across Avery 5267 containing an address and bmp logo graphic, one solid color on white. The label for each record is repeated 80 times so that each address gets a full page of labels.
One major problem is that on the HP 4500 PCL (not PS) one page spools to about 19 MB (which takes a couple of minutes in itself) and then the print processing on the PC takes around 8 minutes (this is on a 650 MHz Pentium III with 128 MB of Ram). Thus to get a page out of the printer takes at least 10 minutes. I have tried the bmp from both "from file" and embedded; it makes no difference. By comparison, doing the same label page (same graphic, etc. on Avery 5267) using a lowly program like The Print Shop takes at most a minute or two. If I remove the logo graphic A5 also takes only a minute or maybe even less. If I print the same page (with logo) to an HP 4 or Lexmark 1625 (both monochrome) it also prints more or less right away.
First, what gives? And second, whatever gives it appears that other programs have a way around it, so can something be done to improve how A5 deals with color graphics?
Another major problem is that when the above label is run on a Network Optimized runtime version of A5, users get a message saying that the Avery 5267 cannot be found and the print job cannot go forward at all. Apparently we can't print labels in such a scenario??
Any ideas on how to deal with either problem would be appreciated.
