Script Question

I have a global script:

blah blah blah
blah blah blah
form.view("foo")
end

and a script attached to foo's onkey event:

key = a_user.key.value
if key = "{ENTER}" then
script_play("foo")
end if
end

The second script will not execute and does not generate an error. What might be happening here? Is OnKey falling over itself, perhaps?

Tom,

Find a model for the user_key syntax and copy it. The value is enter but I think you may need to surround the word with braces. Also you need the event to be "down" and to set key handled to True.

Perhaps someone can give it to you off the top of the head but not I.

Here's an example that may be helpful:

if a_user.key.value = "{ESC}" .and. parentform.mode_get() = "VIEW"
a_user.key.handled = .T.
parentform.close()
end if

Hi Tom....

I ran into something similar ..... In a script I used form.view("formname")
but the form would not load. I discovered that I also had an object on the
currently displayed form with the same "object name" as the form that I was calling. I changed the name of the object on the current form, then the
script ran fine.

Before I changed the name of the object on the currently displayed form
the script ran & gave focus to the object rather than load the form I was
calling. You might check to see if this is happening to you?

That got me on the right track, Steve. I, uh, read the manual again. I tried just *.handled = .T. and that helped, the script did execute, twice, even. There seems to be some recursion going on with OnKey. I finally used *.event = "down" and that seemed to fix things properly.
